Hello, and welcome to my website.

I am Sue Reed, novelist, freelancer and creative non-fiction essayist.

Writing from the frontlines of midlife: voice reclaimed, garden muddy, and shame left in the dust, I am a neurodivergent writer whose work is inspired by the wilds of Northumberland, where I live.

I love to share my journey and craft, and am always up for an interview, podcast, author talk or creative writing workshop.

My first novel, The Rewilding of Molly McFlynn, was published in 2023, and the sequel, Molly McFlynn Goes Rogue, is being published in October 2026.

Sue Reed is a master storyteller. This is the first time in years I found a novel that gripped me so much I couldn't wait for my next evening's instalment and dreaded finishing it. The author weaves her warm humour into timely reflections on contemporary issues while taking the reader on an adventure exploring the mysteries of time, magic and belonging. A wonderfully rich and thought-provoking read that left me tingling and glowing all over. I'm so glad it's a series, and I can't wait for the next one! Highly recommended.

I really enjoyed this book. I very much wish I had been able to read it all those years ago when I was an awkward teen who didn't always fit in! It was wonderful to follow Molly's story as she came to realise how important it is to be yourself.

As a school librarian, I read a lot of books for young people, and this is an excellent read. Despite the time-slip element it is a very contemporary story dealing with themes of environmental sustainability and the empowerment of women and girls. I loved Molly's journey from sulky, unhappy teen to a young woman who is confident in her own skin.
